I believe Houston would have been in the running for the CFP last year if they hadn't shot themselves in the foot.

The G5 would lose the money they are getting from the CFP. Plus they are taking their top teams out of the bowl line up. Is a G5 playoff going to offset that loss?

The last thing they need to do is to further distance themselves from the P5.
